St. Joseph’s Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Per Diem – Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) to join our Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP) team. This advanced practice role plays a crucial part in assessing, diagnosing, and stabilizing patients experiencing acute behavioral health crises. Working alongside a dynamic, multidisciplinary team, the CPEP Nurse Practitioner ensures timely and patient-centered psychiatric care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations for patients in acute crisis
- Initiate and manage treatment plans, including psychopharmacologic interventions and crisis stabilization
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other emergency department staff to ensure coordinated care
- Facilitate appropriate referrals for inpatient or outpatient psychiatric follow-up
- Document clinical assessments and interventions in accordance with legal and regulatory standards
Qualifications:
- Current New York State Nurse Practitioner license
- Board Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC)
- Experience in psychiatric emergency care, crisis intervention, or acute behavioral health preferred
- Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to perform under pressure
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
