St. Joseph’s Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Board Certified or Board Eligible Psychiatrist to join our Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP) team on a per diem basis. This critical role provides evaluation, diagnosis, and acute treatment for patients experiencing behavioral health emergencies. The CPEP psychiatrist plays an integral role within a multidisciplinary team, helping to ensure timely, effective interventions and patient stabilization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct psychiatric assessments for individuals in crisis
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including psychotropic medication management
- Collaborate with emergency department staff, including physicians, nurses, social workers, and security personnel, to ensure coordinated and compassionate care
- Recommend and facilitate appropriate dispositions, including inpatient admission, outpatient referral, or community support services
Qualifications:
- Active New York State medical license (or eligibility)
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
- Strong diagnostic and decision-making skills in fast-paced, high-acuity environments
- Prior experience in emergency psychiatry, crisis services, or behavioral health settings preferred
Compensation:
- $200/hr with a differential for evenings and weekends
